As I stated earlier, my goal in creating this blog is to improve communication with you the residents of Rogers. Are there any topics that you would like my thoughts/perspective on? I look forward to your comments...fire away...
Can you talk a little more about how you plan on working with the mayor and the other two councilmen who continually vote exactly opposite of you on most every issue. I believe folks would like a little less finger-pointing by both sides of the council and a little more working together to the benefit of our city.
You know me; I helped you with both of your campaigns for office by delivering your campaign literature door to door. I am disappointed however by how you have transformed from a Councilman concerned about accountability and process and performance of city employees to a lackey who is being used for political purposes. I have to take issue with several of your statements regarding Chief Oldfather.
The Investigation of the Police Department was initiated by a Police Department Employee contacting and providing allegations to City Administrator Willis. Mr. Willis presented those allegations to the Council and the Council on a 5-0 vote agreed an investigation was necessary and warranted. You and Mr. Grimm voted for it and now claim it was a bad idea? Where do you get off calling Mr. Willis a liar? He kept the person’s name secret due to Data Privacy and Whistleblower laws. He has nothing to gain and no motive as he is only temporary and will be leaving shortly. There is no benefit for him to choose to lie for another Councilman or anyone.
Mayor Przybilla, Councilmember’s Adams and Rauenhorst, are doing the job we elected them to do by asking accountability questions. I have reviewed the Council Minutes over the past year and I see they have done the same with John Seifert of Public Works, Scott Lange City Engineer, Lisa Wieland of Finance, Brad Feist of Fire Department, Stacy Doboszenski of Administration, HR-Staff and IT as well as Keith Oldfather at various times during the year. I see no indication that the Chief was focused on. How many questions have you asked to make sure our money is being spent properly?
I make my living as a salesman and what I can tell you is that Keith Oldfather was not only a good salesman but part politician as well. He was extremely good at smiling, shaking hands, and yes even kissing babies. We live in a low crime city and yes there have been very few complaints regarding improper actions by officers, but that is not a testament of his management as much as how good our regular patrol officers are. As this city grows and as our crime increases and it will, the head of the Rogers Police Department needs to have more qualities than just good salesmanship to get by.
I do not know what was discussed in the Closed Meeting, but what I do know is that Keith Oldfather can open that up and fully disclose everything that was discussed at anytime he wants to. The question I have is what does it contain that he does not want shared and why are you helping him in this deception?
